Below, he shares some of his history in professional sports.
UFC
The UFC, or Ultimate Fighting Championship, is the largest and most popular mixed martial arts tournament in the world, featuring some of the world’s best fighters. With the exception of mouth guards, UFC fighters wear very little protective gear and engage in a very brutal and fierce competition. Concussions, broken noses, cauliflower ear and swollen eye sockets are all routine in UFC fights, as each competitor aggressively fights until someone either taps out or gets knocked out. Because of the brutal nature of this sport, it is required to have the best physicians possible on-site to ensure the long-term health of these athletes. David Soria MD was one of these physicians at UFC 146 and 162, both held at separate times at the MGM Grand Las Vegas.
NBA
Since 2004, David Soria MD has been the Assistant Medical Director of the National Basketball Association. He has been a played a pivotal role in the direction of medical staff members who help athletes stay healthy and fit throughout the season. David Soria will be traveling to Rio de Janeiro for this year's first preseason games with the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers.
